"You the steel of my blade, the truth to my word. You are the disciplined order, the hawk's eyes. You are a Legionnaire. You are my Legion." - The High Sovereign
Hey everybody. So, prior to my days on the Gateway I had this little forum with a continuing role play called Legion. What is Legion? Well, I'm glad you asked. It's a world I built with my friends made general enough to incorporate the different pieces of unique lore created by various people in the RP, while maintaining enough direction so that the world doesn't become a sandbox. It was quite the success, and at its pinnacle we had maybe. . . 12 active people on in the RP? The creator took down the website after he had things to deal with IRL and the RP[s] essentially died off, everybody going their separate ways. The Winter Campaign is going to be slightly different because, we're not going to have 12 people. It's going to be a relatively small group because I am in no means as talented a GM as the man who originally created this, but I can hold my own. Now, for details:
Ever see the movie "Centurion" starring Michael Fassbender? Well if you have you already grasp the general direction of where this is going to go. Legion is heavily Roman-Empire based (Gee -- the main sovereignty in lore is called The Imperial Empire. Look at that.). Now, I will heavily stress right now that this is not a historical RP, it takes a huge majority of influence from the Roman era but it is set in a typical Medieval Fantasy setting. There is magic, and there are a variety of strange beasts.
Now, I am no historical buff, but it can be safely assumed that the Roman Legions had huge emphasis on discipline, regimental mentality, and more importantly teamwork. I was always fascinated with how precise movements had to be in order to create those large walking shield things near invincible to enemy arrows. When I saw the movie Centurion I was agape. It was exactly how I imagined Legion : The Winter Campaign would be set in. With that said, look up a few images, you'll notice how gritty it is -- not to mention cold.
The RP will be very similar. Your character will be apart of a Legion, that Legion will march somewhere North to do battle in the High Sovereign's name, things will go awry and BAM! -- you're in a merry band of survivors behind enemy lines. That merry band of survivors will be a max of 6 people. There will be 6 classes, each with their specific role, but in the end you're all Legionnaires.
I don't want to give away too much right now because this post is mainly to indicate how much interest would be generated with The Winter Campaign. Feel free to ask questions, since well, I know I didn't answer many with this post. If you are interested feel free to respond, that way I can make a running tally of who'd be available.
I look forward to meeting you guys. :)
